The Significance of tabby
Tabby—derived from the Spanish name tabique de hostion (mud wall of oyster shell)—is a centuries-old building material made from a slurry of lime from burned oyster shells, water, sand, and broken shells. It continues to be used in building architecture in the most elegant and beautiful of homes, reflecting the area's history and the people drawn to it.
We choose to live in places that resonate with us. We connect with the personality of a place and the unique characteristics that give it charm. For those of us fortunate enough to have experienced the coastal towns of Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina, we are drawn to the live oaks, the Spanish moss, the blue waters, and of course, the tabby.
Tabby House Design & Interiors strives to create interiors that tell a story and connect people to the places they’ve chosen to live. We create spaces that express the personalities of their owners and achieve functionality, mood, and harmony. Whether designing a home, a room, or even a business space, we aim to facilitate a positive design experience and achieve an exceptional design outcome.
